The Future Bright Bowling Center in Macau has 15 lanes of international standard bowing space and is open to people of any age. Construction of the center started in 2005, just in time for the East Asian Games at the Macau Dome in the Cotai area. This center is a well-visited attraction in Macau when locals and tourists alike opt to go bowling in Macau.

Other than the famous bowling alley, the Entertainment Center also has an arcade, and a skating rink. The center’s ice skating is the only ice rink in Macau that is popular with teenagers and ice hockey teams. No special attire is required to skate and ice skates are available for rent. The ice skating rink is open from 10 in the morning to 10:30 at night daily. Future Bright is one of the only two bowling alleys in Macau. The other alley is the Lok Tin found in the International Centre of Macau in close proximity to the Casa Real Hotel.

The bowling center at Future Bright is open daily from 10 in the morning until the wee hours of 1 in the morning. Rates vary from MOP$ 18-25 per game depending on the day and time of visit. Weekdays offer fairly low rates at MOP$ 40 per hour. The bowling centre is found at the Future Bright Entertainment Centre along Rua de Coelho do Amaral found next to the Camoes Garden. The Camoes Garden is one of Macau’s oldest and most famous parks where locals are often seen exercising and playing chess daily.

To get to the Future Bright Skating Rink, take a 5 minute walk from the Ruins of St. Paul or a 15 minute walk from the Senado Square to the nearest bus station. Catch Bus number 18 from the Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro or Senado Square and get off at the Camoes Garden. Fare would probably cost around a mere MOP$ 2.50 as the Future Bright Entrainment Center can be found right next to the famous garden.

Aside from gambling in casinos, bowling is a great alternate activity for those who are too young to get inside Macau casinos. The Future Bright Bowling Center is actually a common destination for young tourists while they wait for their parents to finish their draw of gambling. Bowling is a favorite pastime and can be played by anyone. But whether bowling in Macau or bowling in your hometown, there are certain unwritten etiquettes and manners that every casual bowler should know.

  1. Always give the bowler of other lanes who are already ready to bowl the right of way. Let the bowler beside you follow through before you attempt to bowl.
  2. It’s important to wear bowling shoes when bowling. Accidents and strains are a common occurrence for those who skip wearing bowling shoes.
  3. It is good manners to know when it’s your turn to bowl.
  4. After completing your frame, do not just stand there. Let someone else bowl.
  5. Whatever you do, don’t talk or tease people when their taking their shot. Concentration is key in bowling.

These rules may be unspoken bowling rules, but they do speak loud on their own. Whether bowling in Macau or bowling anywhere else around the world, keep these tips in mind and enjoy the lanes!
